I'm halfway through my stay! Half of me feels like I've only just got here and the other that I've always been here.
Today was as usual. The walk to school was a rush, they left a bit late but Esther said they got there on time.
When it got to lunch time to pick Reuben up i took the two young ones to get him while Esther did more Spanish, got Reuben then stayed at the park until she came to get N and K.
The afternoon was nice and quiet.. sent a few emails and did yesterdays blog!
On the take two front, Esther won again closely followed by Jonathan and I took last place.. gracefully : ) still, it was a closer than yesterday.

Tuesday 30th January
Today was pretty busy. The kids were back to school so it was the usual rush in the morning to get dressed, fed and out the door for 8. Naomi must have got up the wrong side of the bed so she went back to sleep for a couple of hours. While both were sleeping, Esther got some Spanish done while I did some ironing.
Esther then went to get the others from school at lunch while I changed a nappy and got Naomi up.
Esther and Jonathan had a meeting at school at 4 so I stayed with Naomi and Joshua for a couple of hours until they were back. Keziah was all excited when she got home because she had gone into the bread shop by herself to buy the bread for dinner... I know how she felt.
Esther and Keziah had their classes in the evening so me and Jonathan got them bathed and in bed.
Once they were all in bed me and Esther had a game of take two. I lost miserably! but it could have been down to the new way of scoring.. I wasn;t used to it but I'll practise and beat her before I leave... maybe.

Monday 29th Jan
Today was a fun day : ) the kids were off school with a public holiday. We woke up a bit later to the sound of rain again the roof, so it felt like home waking up.
We just spent the day in the house but we found enough things to do. Me and Keziah carried on with our paper mache cottage.. heres a pic of it:

I also had a few competitive games of table football against Nathanael.. I won two : ) Hes almost as good as his dad but not quite there, hes a better loser.. just kidding.
In the afternoon we watched the Disney film, Cars.. Naomi got it for her birthday so we watched it for the first time today.

Sunday 28th January
Today was another full and busy day. There wasn't so much of a lie in this morning as me and Jonathan went to the English speaking church, Mountainview, which started at half ten instead of 12. It was nice to understand the service but I do prefer the Spanish as it feels it makes more sense to be living in Spain and going to a Spanish speaking church. The atmosphere is much more what I like and am used to, even if I can't understand whats going on!
Jonathan went onto the Spanish church straight after while I chatted to some people then headed home and finished off a few things for Esther coming home for lunch. They had a Spanish family over for lunch. The had a 6 year old and twin 20 month olds. They did speak English but everyone spoke a bit of both so it was an Intercambio lunch, if thats what you call it. I even began to pick things up and was able to understand some questions.. such as would you like anymore? : ) They were a really nice family so it was a good afternoon.
In the evening I went with the Pianos to the youth group I had been to 2 Sundays ago. It was alot better tonight and I enjoyed it. I'm getting to know people there a lot better so its nice.
The evenings are good fun too.. I'm getting to know Jonathan and Esther well and am really relaxed with them now. So its all good here : )
The weathers pretty nice here too.. I think I might just stay ! : )

Saturday 27th January
Today was Naomi's 3rd birthday. We had a busy day... started the morning with a big birthday breakfast with crossiants and opening presents then Nathanael and Keziah had piano lessons. While that was happening, Me, Esther, Naomi and Joshua went out to the butchers, post office and the shop in the town to get a few things. The butchers was really interesting.. you chose what meat you wanted from big slabs of meat and then the butcher had a HUGE knife and cut it up for you.. it looked pretty sharp. The smell was horrible, I don't know how they work in there all day , espcially when it gets hot.
Once we'd got back, Esther started on the lunch.. sausages and mash.. Naomi's choice! : ) It was a really nice lunch that included a cat cake that Esther made and ice cream. Reuben decided that a real cat would taste nicer than the chocolate one and seemed convinced he'd eaten a real cat before too.

After that we set off for a bit of a walk. It was nice and sunny with bright blue skies.

Keziah had a birthday party to go to at the cinema so she went to that while we looked around the centre, saw a bit of an ice hockey match and then got something to eat : ) it was good. Once we'd finished we went back to get Keziah then headed home with tired children. I'm so impressed with Esther's parking/driving/3 point turning in narrow road skills in such a huge car. At home, Esther put Naomi to bed while I changed Joshua's nappy and got him ready for bed. The first time I have ever changed a baby : )
Mum and Dad phoned for a while, it was nice to talk to them again.
In the evening, we tested out Naomi's birthday books! We read Mog the forgetful cat and Platero.. a Spanish book read and translated by Jonathan. It was a book about a happy and hairy donkey who died at the end- not the cheeriest of books : )

Friday 26th January
Today was a full and busy day. I took the kids to school this morning, dragging them along as we were tight timewise.
When I got back, I did some stuff with Naomi and then watched Tweenies and Teletubbies in Spanish.
Esther went to get the kids and did some food shopping just before lunch so I had the younger two for about an hour or so. I had Joshua happy for a good half hour non-stop so I was chuffed! : ) and I also fed him.
In the afternoon,me and Naomi cleaned the bathrooms then Esther and Naomi made some scones and Naomi's birthday cake for tomorrow!
After school, one of the mums that Esthers friends with popped in for a bit with her 2 kids who are the same age as Nathanael and Reuben. It was really funny to hear Reuben chatting away in Spanish and Esther was doing well too. They'll all be fluent in no time!
We had bathtime and jammies on, dinner a bit later then put the kids to bed. After that we set up the table and wrapped pressies for Naomis birthday tomorrow : )
I'm being very domesticated.. my thumbs all cut up.. too much wahing dishes.. I'll need to wear the marigolds more often haha : )
Oh yeah.. I played Jonathan at table football, not really surprisingly he won.. a pittiful 10-2 :(
Heres a photo of Nathanael and Reuben playing it.. they've still to learn the art of losing gracefully so as you can see they are mid game.

Thursday 25th January
Its my 3rd Thursday!
We woke up this morning with snow! A sprinkling, but still snow.
I walked the kids to school this morning, it was pretty cold and Reuben tripped over but we did get there in time : )
The days been quite relaxed today, I spent the morning with Naomi as usual while Joshua slept and Esther did some Spanish.
Esther went and got Keziah, Reuben and Nathanael for lunch and then she ran them back in the car and then went onto go food shopping with the younger two. I've just finished cleaning up the house for the weekend.. you really notice just how big the house is when youre sweeping all the floors on four levels!
I'm about to go and get Keziah, Nathanael and Reuben from school soon but thought I'd write my blog now so I don;t have to do it later!
Tonight is the two classes so I'll be bathing and putting to bed some kiddies : )
Heres the snow...

Its actually really sunny again now but probably cold still.. I'm hoping it will get sunny warm again : ) I preferred that!

Wednesday 24th January
I just deleted this entry just as I was about to add in the pics, so I'm not too happy.. haha!
2 weeks today!
Today was a really busy day. In the morning Me, Esther, Naomi and Joshua headed out to El Escorial to the Monastry we saw from our walk last Saturday. It was freezing cold and the monastry wasn't too warm either! It was really interesting.. like a museum/ art gallery type idea. Ther was one room that went down underneath the ground, covered in marble- ceiling, walls and floors. It had coffins slotted into the walls of royal people, I think. It was really creepy but Esther enjoyed it! Another good part was a corridor covered in a huge murial, including the ceiling, of Spanish battles. Looked a lot of work!
Anyway.. heres some pics of the day :

In the evening, after dinner, I headed out to Madrid to the same cafe to go to a bible group/ discussion thing. It was just starting up by the English speaking church, Mountainview so there were only 3 people there! I had a good evening though, there was a girl, Bettina there who I got on well with so it was to get out and have a chat with some people! I think i might be going to Mountainview this Sunday so that will be nice to understand the service : )

Tuesday 23rd January
The days are going by pretty fast these days. I'm really enjoying my time now so its all good : )
Naomi started off in a funny mood but I eventually got her to do some things while Esther did some Spanish in the morning. She keeps my days running active! I can't really remember what I did all day.. I went to the bread shop again at about 11 to get the bread for the day then came home for lunch.
Once Esther had dropped the kids off it was a quiet afternoon as Naomi went for a sleep, Esther made dinner and I did some ironing.. that could have been the morning.
Once Keziah, Nathanael and Reuben were home from school we had dinner and then there was some rushing to get Esther and Keziah out the door for 20 past 6. I managed to get the other 3 into their jammies and read to by the time Jonathan was home. I was impressed myself! : ) Even Joshua wasnt too unhappy. Hes on some antibiotics so hopefully everything will calm down soon.
Jonathan and Esther are out just now with Joshua to look for a birthday present for Naomi so I'm at home while the brood are sleeping : )
The weathers been pretty cold today, still sunny but really cold. Jonathan still hears snows on the forcast : )

Monday 22nd January
Hi again : )
I've been told by Hollie to make my blogs longer again as they were getting too short! Its geting harder to keep up with them as I'd rather be in bed. But here I am anyway. Dedication eh?
Well, today was as a usual weekday. I took the kids to school this morning as Jonathan and Esther took Joshua to the doctors as hes not been well for the last while, even before I arrived. It was a really misty morning.. heres a pic after I went to the bread shop and said my order which the woman understood! : )

When I got back home I took Naomi downstairs and did some bits with her.. we made a big flower which is on the kitchen cupboard now and she played with playdoh for ages. The others came back for lunch at 12 and 1 and Jonathan was working from home in the morning so we had lunch together. After lunch we cleared up, J took the kids to school and me, Esther, Joshua and Naomi set off to a couple of shops. We went into decathlon for some trainers for Naomi, thought Dad would like to know theres one here too as well as France.. so if you want me to pick up anything for your whw race, just let me know!
We went and picked the kids up from school at 5. Esther had a meeting with Reuben's class so I stayed with the 5 kids as they ran about outside for a while unit it got too cold! A cold and partly wet day in Spain was had.. the first rain I've seen in almost 2 weeks! Heres some pics of the kids...

Ged phoned tonight so it was nice to catch up again.. I'm looking forward to having a drive in his new yellow car : )
So thats all thats about all that happened today. I'm tired and its been hard trying to get up in the mornings. I look forward to my bowl of museli though... I'm definatly going to get some in house when I get home : D

Sunday 21st Jan
Today went pretty fast. Sunday mornings are nice because theyre really relaxed. Its good having church starting at 12!
We had a big breakfast then headed off to chuch... Spanish church. When we got back Esther made lunch and then we ate. After that Reuben and Maria, Esther's cousin and wife, set off. I got an invite to Valencia for the weekend :) so we'll see what happens with that.
Everyones just relaxing and playing now so I thought I'd just write this now. Not the busiest of days but it was good after yesterdays bustle.

Saturday 20th Jan
Home in a month!
Today was good fun. We had a nice lie in which was well received and then breakfast and piano lessons. It was really really sunny so we all headed out towards the mountains for a walk. We had a picnic in January.. I was impressed! We're just back now for dinner and baths!
Heres some pics...

The view.. my pictures do it no justice. The huge building is a monarstry. Esther says we'll get out one Wednesday and go see it so I'm looking forward to that :)

Friday 19th January
Just a quick one..
I had the day off today as Esther took Naomi and Joshua to meet up with some mums and then do some shopping so I headed on the train to a shopping centre for some exploring. I got there and back in one piece and had a good morning/afternoon look around.
Heres a picture of the centre....

And the train....

Esthers cousin is over for the weekend so I'm sure we've got a busy weekend planned.
Esther updated the Brombleys blog, theres a link on my page.

Thursday 18th Jan
I'm starting to get into the swing of everything now. Im pretty much relaxed in what I'm doing so its good. I wake up each morning missing home but by the time I'm down at breakfast its all quite busy so its easy to just get along with it. Its good being more independent but at the same time still having home comforts, just from a different home : )
Apparently its snowing in Scotland so I'm pretty gutted to have missed that. : ( maybe it will snow here at some point?... think I'd rather the sun actually.
The morning was something new.. I took the kids to school by myself then went on to the bread shop to buy dos barras integrales. typo probably? So that was exciting.

The day felt really long as now I'm heading off to bed the morning felt like forever ago! I spent the morning with Naomi and duplo then went down to get Reuben. I waited in the wrong place but a woman brought him across and tried to explain I was waiting in the wrong place in Spanish. The walk back took a looong time with a 4 and a nearly 3 year old! by the time we got back Esther was off to get N and K.
In the afternoon Naomi went to bed for a couple of hours after a temper tantrum ! Me and Esther did the weekend clean up so I'm off to a shopping centre place on the train tomorrow. Esthers cousin and his wife are staying for the weekend so that will probably be another busy weekend. I like it that way though.
The dogs are wild here. Around the area when one dog starts barking, they all start.. it gets pretty loud!
Heres a picture of the motorway, i think its the A6. We cross the big bridge to get to school... though Mum would like it haha : ) ...

Weds 17th Jan
I've been here a week!
Heres the things I miss most so far...
Ged, the family, friends, ghds!, lie ins...
The change in lifestyle has been interesting and I've coped well with things I have but dont really need.. like tv and snacks.. that kind of stuff. The only things I really miss are people at home. I feel like I've really settled in and I'm enjoying myself now. Its really good to be trying something new out and I'm really enjoying living in Spain.
Today felt quite hectic as im now only just sitting down to write this. Neither Joshua or Naomi were very well today so it was quiet. Naomi went to bed before lunch and slept for a good few hours while Esther sorted Joshua out. Jonathan worked from home in the morning so we all had lunch together which was nice. I played with Naomi in the morning as well as doing a few bits of cleaning and ironing : ) Im domesticated!
In the afternoon I ventured out to the shops to stock up on some shampoos and stuff. They dont seem to do small bottles of shower gel so I have a massive one. Once i got back Naomi was up and bouncing around.. nearly. I went and picked up Keziah, Nathanael and Reuben from school which i managed to find myself : )
Dinner time was hilarious.. Reuben decided to eat the shell of his egg as well as the inside and seemed to like it. It was a good laugh!
Because Joshua wasnt well, I went into Madrid for this evening thing with Jonathan. It wasnt much but it was good seeing how the trains worked and seeing a bit of Madrid. I'm going to go out on Friday morning while Esthers meeting some mums.
Heres my walk to the shops and my surroundings. As you can see the weathers pretty cold, but still dry!

Tuesday 16th Jan
Just to warn you before you start reading I didnt take any pics today.. sorry!
I had a good day today. Its nice because I'm really feeling that I'm getting to know the kids alot better and having more fun cos I know what they like to do and how to talk to them alot better now. I get moments where i really miss home and wish i could be back in Scotland but its nice to be doing something different and I'm sure it will be a good thing to look back on. Lets just see if I survive the full 5 weeks and 6 days : ) ...
The morning started as it usually does, kids up at 7, breakfast at half past. Then i stay with Naomi and Joshua while Esther takes them to school. Me and Naomi had a good morning. We made some butterflies but she got a bit bored towards the end and just played with cars and block things for ages instead. She didnt seem to like getting her hands dirty with paint.. will have to coax her out of that one : )
Reuben, Nathanael and Keziah came home for lunch then were back out at 2. We then spent the afternoon making about 100 scones to use up a few bottles of milk that had just gone off. Theyre now bagged up in the freezer!
The evening was better than Thursday.. Keziah and Esther have classes so its a bit of a rush to get out and ready in time. Joshua has been alot happier this week so thats been great. I fed him today which was exciting. I'm starting to get good with babies haha.
Getting them bathed and ready for bed was alot more smoother than Thursday and when Jonathan walked in I was a lot calmer then i had been last week! Maybe its just because he got home alot earlier!
Im still planning to go to the Theology on Tapas in Madrid tomorrow night. Esthers going to come too which will be good.
Its been really nice spending time with Jonathan and Esther and getting to know them. Were alot closer now cos she washed my pants haha. : )
Buenos Noches!

Monday 15th Jan
Its the end of my 5th day here and I had a good day. I'm really starting to feel at home. Thursday and Friday last week were pretty hard as I getting used to the way of things and the routine but today I really felt as though I was helping. Esther spent the morning working on some Spanish upstairs while I was in the basement with Naomi making some things and playing with some playdough. Once she'd got bored I took her and Joshua out to the park (which I managed to find myself) and then came back at one for lunch.
We have baguettes like the ones in France but this time theres a variety of fillings rather than the spreadible cheese and cherry tomatos we had in the summer every lunch when we were in France.
The afternoon was pretty quiet which was nice. I even watched Seasame Street in Spanish. The evening was a bit mad but dinner was really good : )
Ged phoned for a good while tonight and everyone at home phoned as well so it was busy night on the phone but nice to finally speal to people at home.
The weathers been really good so far. Its always pretty cold in the morning but really heats up in the afternoon. Today has been the coldest but its still nicer and a whole lot drier than Scotlands been the last couple of months. It makes me glad to be here!
As usual heres some pics to go along with this...
