Saturday 27th January

Today was Naomi's 3rd birthday. We had a busy day... started the morning with a big birthday breakfast with crossiants and opening presents then Nathanael and Keziah had piano lessons. While that was happening, Me, Esther, Naomi and Joshua went out to the butchers, post office and the shop in the town to get a few things. The butchers was really interesting.. you chose what meat you wanted from big slabs of meat and then the butcher had a HUGE knife and cut it up for you.. it looked pretty sharp. The smell was horrible, I don't know how they work in there all day , espcially when it gets hot.

Once we'd got back, Esther started on the lunch.. sausages and mash.. Naomi's choice! : ) It was a really nice lunch that included a cat cake that Esther made and ice cream. Reuben decided that a real cat would taste nicer than the chocolate one and seemed convinced he'd eaten a real cat before too.

After that we set off for a bit of a walk. It was nice and sunny with bright blue skies.

Keziah had a birthday party to go to at the cinema so she went to that while we looked around the centre, saw a bit of an ice hockey match and then got something to eat : ) it was good. Once we'd finished we went back to get Keziah then headed home with tired children. I'm so impressed with Esther's parking/driving/3 point turning in narrow road skills in such a huge car. At home, Esther put Naomi to bed while I changed Joshua's nappy and got him ready for bed. The first time I have ever changed a baby : )

Mum and Dad phoned for a while, it was nice to talk to them again.

In the evening, we tested out Naomi's birthday books! We read Mog the forgetful cat and Platero.. a Spanish book read and translated by Jonathan. It was a book about a happy and hairy donkey who died at the end- not the cheeriest of books : )

Phoned you for a little while !!!!!!!!!! Makes it sound as if we couldn't be bothered !! It was nice to talk to you and catch up with what you.ve been doing. I am impressed that you have finally changed a nappy. What a shame it wasn't a poo.

Yeah, it doesn't really count. I'm going to make sure you get a real one Emma and not with a disposable either but with one of the washable ones!!

Hi Emma. Thanks for your comment on my blog. I really enjoyed Saturdays run and my muscles didn't feel so bad the next day. It will be interesting to see how I get on tonight at the club. Hope you enjoyed your lie in and have had a good day.
